Lignoza Joint Stock Company in Katowice undertakes the construction project of a new production plant in Pustków (operational until 1939) named Lignoza SA Katowice – Wytwórnia Pustków.

The plant is taken over by the Nazi German authorities and the plant equipment is transferred to Germany. Upon the outbreak of World War II, any production at Wytwórnia Pustków comes to a halt. By September 1940, Germans dismount and move to Germany all the machines and equipment; military barracks arranged on the site.

Rebuilding of the plant and production of the first moulding compounds.

Production extended by urea mixtures and cresole Bakelite.

Intensive growth of the plant, new products launched: urea adhesives, resolites, phenolic formaldehyde resins, phenolic, urea and melamine moulding compounds. A residential quarter was built, with a hotel for the personnel, a community centre and a cinema.

Creation of the Company’s sports club The Chemist, which we have been supporting to date.

Commissioning of the polyester resin production installation.

Commissioning of the new Laminates Department.

ZTS ERG transformed into a sole-shareholder company of the State Treasury.

Company’s shares allocated to the National Investment Funds.

Entry into the Responsibility and Care Programme, award of the President of the National Fund for Environmental Protection, Gold Medal at POLEKO fairs.

Expansion of the installation for the production of polyester resins.

A new formalin plant.

Acquisition of the company by a private owner, Mr Marian Kwiecień.

Extension of the reactors for the production of resolite resins.

Construction of another installation for the production of polyester resins.

Commissioning of the installation for the production of fine-ground novolaks.

Takeover of the  Marpol S.A. flexible packaging producer from Ignatki near Białystok.

MARPOL SA bought 100% shares in GTX HANEX PLASTIC Sp. z o.o.

Takeover of Zakłady Chemiczne Permedia S.A. from Lublin  – the producer of masterbaches – additives for plastics.

Takeover of Zakłady Tworzyw Sztucznych Izo-Erg from Gliwice  – the producer of electro insulating and structural laminates.

Takeover of Ciech Żywice from Nowa Sarzyna – the producer of polyestey and epoxy resins (rebranded into Sarzyna Chemical).

Takeover of Elana PET from Toruń, specializing in PET recycling, and the production of steel tanks and machinery (rebranded into Lerg-Pet).

Acquisition of a 76 percent stake in WeButex Kunststoffbearbeitung GmbH, a German company specializing in the processing of thermoset laminates.
