On 26 November at the Environmental Education Centre in Stobierna, we held an entomological workshop for kids. The workshop inaugurated a series of meetings under Lerg’s Environmental Program addressed to primary school kids from Dębica Community.
The first edition meeting gathered grade 2 and 3 pupils from the primary school in Pustków-Osiedle, a total of 41 children. The instruction was given by Mr. Andrzej Trzeciak, an outstanding expert in the study of insects, whose passion in sharing his knowledge with the youngest is second to none. The introductory story on how insects came to live on Earth opened the gate to his telling a cornucopia of facts and curiosities about their evolution and daily life, based on a rich collection of specimens of individual species.
The educational program for the youngest sets out to develop wise human-nature coexistence attitudes, raise environmental awareness and grow a sense of responsibility for the natural environment in which we live; in other words, to nurture kids’ caring attitude towards the world of plants and animals and a sense of concern and responsibility for the current and future quality of life on Earth.
A Second Edition is planned for spring 2025 to make Lerg’s Environmental Program meetings a regular schedule.
See you then!
